From June 22 to 26, 2025, Sitges in Spain hosted the 2025 Materials Today Conference, one of the largest professional events in materials science. The conference focused current trends in creating, researching, and applying new materials.
The National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented the results of applied materials science research conducted within state-funded programs. Key topics included the selection and evaluation of promising sorbents for solidifying liquid radioactive waste from the BN-350 reactor and materials from the National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan's experimental base for testing nuclear and structural materials in research reactors.
Participants were also presented with research on hydrogen storage and materials obtained by methane pyrolysis in a microwave discharge at various power levels.
Reports by NNC RK specialists received positive feedback from the international expert community. Participation in the event enabled the expansion of professional connections and the exchange of knowledge in relevant areas of materials science development.
