Regional Training Course on Isotope Hydrology

From October 12 to 16, 2026, the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the Regional Training Course “Field Measurements for Isotope Hydrology Studies”. This training was held in Rabat, Malta, within the framework of technical cooperation project RER7017 “Ensuring Water Availability under Climate Change”.

Course program covered modern methods of groundwater investigation using isotope technologies, hydrogeological monitoring, assessment of age and quality of groundwater, as well as identification of pollution sources.

Practical part included field studies, learning techniques for water sampling for isotope analysis, visits to monitoring points, and familiarization with specialized equipment for measuring radon-222 in groundwater.

Participation in the course contributes to development of competencies the NNC RK in the field of isotope hydrology and application of modern methods for studying water resources.
