EAGLE Experimental Bench

    One of the facilities visited by the participants of the press tour of the republican mass media became the EAGLE experimental bench. Experiments are conducted at the bench facility to model and study the processes that occur during severe accidents at nuclear reactors, which can lead to core fuel meltdown. Out- of- pile experimental tests are conducted at this facility together with the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and with the participation of the Japan Atomic Power Company (JAPC) under the EAGLE project. The main aim of these tests is to explore potential reducing the consequences of a severe accident with core meltdown at sodium cooled fast reactors.
