Signing of a Memorandum

On November 30, as part of the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Paris, a Memorandum of Understanding for Technical Cooperation on Radioactive Waste Management between the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the French National Radioactive Waste Management Agency “ANDRA” was signed.

For a long time, the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been cooperating with French nuclear organizations, implementing unique projects in the field of nuclear power safety. Today’s memorandum was an important step towards expanding bilateral scientific and technical cooperation.

Joint work with French experts in the area defined in the memorandum will contribute to solving problems of controlled safe storage and disposal of radioactive wastes which were produced due to activity of the Semipalatinsk Test Site.
