Personnel Special Training

For the period from 17 to 20th of February, Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology held training courses for NNC RK’s personnel: “Special training of personnel responsible for radiation safety. Radiation protection and safety.”

Within the week participants considered RK radiation safety regulatory issues, studied basic knowledge of radioactivity and types of ionizing radiation, as well as measurement methods and devices (survey meters, spectrometers, dosimeters), and found out information concerning biological effects of ionizing radiation and monitoring of professional exposure. Moreover, participants studied radioactive wastes management issues and decontamination methods. Practical lessons included calculation and evaluation of internal exposure dose for personnel and public, and calculation of thickness of protection from ionizing radiation.
