The fifth meeting of the Consultative Organ of the CIS member states key organization was held from October 15 to October 19, 2018 dedicated to informational exchange in area of CIS research nuclear facilities safety on the basis of “Joint Institute for Power and Nuclear Research - Sosny” in Minsk, capital of the Republic of Belarus.
Issues on data acquisition, analysis and use concerning CIS member-states’ experience in research nuclear facilities operation were discussed at the meeting for the purposes of information and analytical materials preparation on nuclear facilities safety enhancement methods for application by CIS operating organizations.
Vyacheslav Gnyrya, Chief Engineer of “Baikal-1” RRC, participated in the meeting on behalf of the National Nuclear Center of RK. During expanded meeting the presentation on IVG.1M research reactor conversion to low enriched fuel as well as modernization of reactor technological systems for safety and security enhancement was presented.
As a whole, upon results of the five-day workshop it may be concluded, that activity of the CIS key organizations in area of research nuclear facilities safety promotion is a considerable contribution to industrial cooperation development and strengthening within the Commonwealth. Accumulated experience of the key organizations functioning testifies on prospects of such form of cooperation. This format of international workshops holding shows their reasonableness and efficiency for information exchange, activities realization on RNF safety level increase and efficiency of control over RNF nuclear and radiation safety provision by CIS member-states. In the process of meeting, the activities on CIS normative and technical base approximation, information exchange, scientific and research operations realization, promotion of teaching manuals preparation are carried out.
Results of CIS key organization activity testify on their contribution to industrial cooperation development and strengthening on the territory of the CIS countries.
