FNCA International Workshop on Radiation Processing and Polymer Modification for Agricultural, Environmental and Medical Applications Project

09 October 2018

National Nuclear Center of RK and JSC “Park of Nuclear Technologies” host FNCA international workshop, where within 5 days’ participants will consider issues of radiation processing and polymer modification for agricultural, environmental and medical applications.

The workshop is attended by representatives from 10 FNCA member states - Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

This is the second workshop in Kazakhstan. Previous workshop “Electron Accelerator Application Project” was held in the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Almaty in 2012.

We should emphasize that the Forum of Nuclear Cooperation in Asia plays an important role in development of Asian Region. When opening the workshop, Erlan Batyrbekov, Director General of RSE NNC RK remarked: “Promoting the development of nuclear technology application, experience exchange in nuclear security, the Forum, first of all, is aimed at elaboration of approaches to solve the most vital nuclear issues”.

There are many accelerators in Kazakhstan. They are also applied for radiation-induced polymer crosslinking, radiation processing of medical instruments, production of track-edged membranes, etc.

Application of accelerators in many industries satisfies the up-to-date challenges, providing high-quality everyday life with no environmental burden. Thus, the project subject is of high priority for Kazakhstan as well as for the entire world.

The workshop will last from October 8 to 11. Recommendations to be developed during the workshop are highly-demanded in practice, forming the basis for implementation of prospective projects in application of nuclear technologies in different economic industry.
