The National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) technical meeting dedicated to the development of isotope laboratories in Central Asia. The meeting was held in Vienna from 1 to 4 September 2026.

The meeting brought together representatives from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, providing a platform for exchanging experience and discussing prospects for the development of isotope hydrology in the region.

During the meeting, the NNC RK presented Kazakhstan’s experience in radioecological research and the application of isotope hydrology methods. Particular attention was paid to the potential of modern isotope methods for studying water resources, as well as to the development of laboratory and research infrastructure.

Participation in such international projects contributes to strengthening cooperation among Central Asian countries in the study and rational use of water resources, developing scientific competencies and introducing modern research methods.
