National Nuclear Center has the scientific expertise and research infrastructure needed to address current challenges in the nuclear industry. It can be take part in radiation and environmental monitoring at mines and in assessing personnel safety, and can also apply geophysical methods to monitor technological processes in uranium extraction.

New Zhalpak mine has been commissioned by Mining Company “Ortalyk” LLP, part of NAO “Kazatomprom” JSC. First start-up complex is designed to produce 500 tonnes of uranium per year. Capacity of the surface processing complex is planned to be increased to 900 tonnes in the future.
