The National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan is participating in an International Training Course for instructors on Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Preparedness and Response (NREP), which is taking place from October 7 to 28 in Tokai, Japan, with the participation of specialists from eight countries (Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, and others).

This course is organized by the Integrated Support Center for Nuclear Nonproliferation, Security and Human Resource Development (ISCN) of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA).

Participants are studying issues related to radiation protection, radiation dose assessment, radiation monitoring, and emergency responses.

The program includes practical sessions, simulations, experience sharing and teaching skills and development, as well as visits to relevant facilities in Japan, including the Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Plant, Nuclear Emergency Assistance and Training Center (NEAT) of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), and the Ibaraki Prefecture Radiation Monitoring Center, among others.

Learning about experience of Japan and engaging in international exchange are expected to broaden participants’ professional knowledge, which is planned to be applied in the scientific and educational activities of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
