Discussion on the Progress of the IGR Research Reactor Conversion Project

From June 8 to 10, representatives from the Argonne National Laboratory in the United States paid a working visit to the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meetings, the parties discussed the current status of their joint efforts to convert the IGR research reactor. This included reviewing the results of completed computational and theoretical studies and planning the next steps for implementing the approved project roadmap.

Particular attention was given to developing technologies for the industrial production of low-enriched uranium-graphite fuel, which is necessary for converting the reactor.
