A delegation from the National Nuclear Centre of Kazakhstan is visiting the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The delegation is on a working visit to the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS). The purpose of the visit is to discuss initiatives previously identified and to take bilateral cooperation to a new level, including in the context of Kurchatov’s strategic development as a future science city.

The meeting is taking place with the spirit of constructive dialogue and mutual interest in developing joint scientific projects. This is a  return visit of NNC to SB RAS, previously Russian delegation led by Academician Valentin Nikolaevich Parmon, familiarised themselves with the Centre’s key  activities and scientific and technological potential.

The main topic of discussion is the practical aspects of establishing science cities. The participants focused on how Russia’s successful experience could be applied to the conditions in Kazakhstan. This is particularly relevant given the current issue being considered at the behest of the Head of State regarding the granting of science city status to Kurchatov.

This status should provide the city with new impetus for development, establishing it as a hub for innovation and high-tech solutions and opening new horizons for national science.
