Internship in the field of Radiation Ecotoxicology

The specialists of the National Nuclear Center continue to consolidate their scientific potential, by receiving training and continuous learning in the lead scientific institutions within Kazakhstan and beyond country. 

From May 9 to 25, 2025, the field-related internship completed in the base of All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Radiology and Agroecology (Obninsk). Traning were arranged in the agricultural plants radiobiology and ecotoxicology laboratory under the supervision of doctor of biological sciences Prof. Geraskin S.A.   
The laboratory focuses on use of high-production methods for molecular biology in the aims of study on adaptation mechanisms of plants population to the man-made pollution, examining the atomic-molecular immediate responses of plants to effects of ionizing radiation, heavy metals and formation patterns of low dose biological effects. 

Throughout the program, modern approaches to the selection of oxidative stress markers of plants also ways of quantitative assessment of lowmolecular antioxidants and antioxidantal enzyme activity were mastered. 

The knowledge and practical skills acquired will contribute to the development of scientific research in the field of radiation ecology and molecular genetics of plants in Kazakhstan. They will also be applied to current and prospective NNC RK projects.
