Kazakhstan Delegation Took Part in FNCA Ministerial Level Meeting

The 17th FNCA Ministerial Level Meeting between member countries was held in Tokyo, Japan on November 29-30, 2016.

The forum was attended by ME RK Vice-Minister, Mr. Bakhytzhan Jaxaliyev and RSE NNC RK Director General, FNCA coordinator from the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erlan Batyrbekov.

 Mr. Yosuke Tsuruho, Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy made opening and welcoming remarks.

During the meeting, the reports from FNCA member countries on nuclear technology application in nuclear power industry, scientific and applied research and the results for FNCA meeting reform promotion and FNCA activity management were delivered.

Mr. William D. Magwood, Director General of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (hereafter – OECD) was an invited guest. He covered issues and supposed areas for cooperation between the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and FNCA.

As part of this meeting, the roundtable session “Stakeholder Involvement” where case studies with good practices of stakeholder involvement for nuclear waste management, power and non-power application of nuclear technology had been considered, was held.

The results achieved during the meeting were reflected in Joint Communique.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Kazakhstan delegation visited a site of Fukushima-1 NPP and Chiyoda Technol Corporation where a number of working issues for further cooperation and implementation plan for joint research work were discussed.
