Alley of Peace

The round table was followed by a ceremony to dedication the “Alley of Peace” on the grounds of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Tree-planting ceremony, held in the year marking the 35th Anniversary of the Сlosure of the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site, reflects the path Kazakhstan has taken – from a territory of nuclear testing to a territory of science, safety and peaceful creation.

Honorary guests of the event took part in a ceremony dedicated to the “Alley of Peace”. The trees that have been planted will serve as a reminder of the past, of responsibility to the future generations, of the value of peace and of the need for international cooperation.

Today Kurchatov, once the center of the testing infrastructure, is becoming a space for science, modern technologies, and the peaceful use of atomic energy.
