From 26 to 30 January 2026, the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan will take part in the 3rd Coordination Meeting under the IAEA project, dedicated to ensuring water resources availability in the context of climate change in Vienna (Austria).
Kazakhstani experts took part in an international expert platform, which brings together specialists to develop science-based approaches to water resources management, taking into account climate risks.
The IAEA project is focused on the study of surface and groundwater, as well as the assessment of water quality at the scale of river basins. Particular attention is paid to transboundary rivers and their basins.
Under the “Surface Water and River Basins” thematic area, the National Nuclear Center of RK presented research findings on the isotopic composition of atmospheric precipitation in Eastern Kazakhstan and the water environment of the Irtysh river transboundary.
The participation of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan in IAEA project contributes to strengthening international scientific cooperation, developing advanced methods for water resources monitoring, and fostering sustainable approaches to managing transboundary water systems.
