The 26th meeting of the CIS Commission on the Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy convened in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Delegates included officials from industry ministries, safety regulators, and nuclear agencies of Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee. The delegation of Kazakhstan was led by Gumar Sergazin, Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy.
Discussions centred on advancing cooperation among CIS countries in peaceful use of atomic energy, nuclear and radiation safety as well as the improvement of state regulation mechanisms, taking into account international obligations and IAEA recommendations.
A report was delivered by the NNC RK on the progress of the Research Program at the Kazakhstani Materials Testing Tokamak KTM, outlining prospects for expanding joint research using this facility.
