NNC RK and NAGRA Swiss Company Signed MoU on Radioactive Waste Management

The National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Swiss National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste (NAGRA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel management.  

Signed memorandum paves the way for comprehensive joint work across site selection and justification, design and operation of RW disposal facilities, as well as specialized personnel training. 

Both Parties have expressed a strong commitment to exchanging technologies and expertise, with a shared goal of establishing a modern and safe radioactive waste management system in the Republic of Kazakhstan that intended to meet the most stringent international requirements and standards. 

The signing of this document is widely recognized as a pivotal step in strengthening international scientific and technical cooperation for the NNC RK and significantly deepens the partnership in the field of environmental and radiological safety.
