The country's basic document reflects the will of the people, their desire to establish Kazakhstan as a democratic, secular, legal and social state whose highest values are the individual, his life, rights and freedom. The drafting and adoption of the Constitution was one of the decisive moments towards Kazakhstan's independence. The first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Yelbasy N.A. Nazarbayev said: "Our Basic Law has all the legal instruments for both successful development and self-renewal of the Nation. We have set ourselves a global goal - to transform Kazakhstan into one of the 30 world’s most developed countries by the mid-century on the basis of the developed strategic program until 2050".

For the 26th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Kazakhstan, the Library of Yelbasy has prepared a video that reflects documents and materials from Nazarbayev's personal archive, reflecting the history of preparation of the main law of the country.
