New Directions of the FNCA

New directions of the FNCA activity were discussed at the 21st Ministerial Meeting of the Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia (FNCA).

Batyrzhan Karakozov, Director of Department of Atomic Energy and Industry Development of the Ministry of Energy of RK, and Erlan Batyrbekov, Director General of the National Nuclear Center of RK, FNCA Coordinator took part in the Meeting on behalf of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the FNCA activity was considered in pandemic conditions to promote the social and economic development of member countries through active regional partnerships for the peaceful and safe utilization of nuclear technology.

Of particular interest was the keynote address by the IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi on initiatives taken in combating infectious diseases in response to the current pandemic.

FNCA member countries also presented their papers on the “State of nuclear activities in pandemic conditions (possible contribution or role of nuclear science and technology to social well-being/medical care and human health in pandemic conditions)” and FNCA activity report.

Joint Communique was adopted upon discussion results and awarding ceremony was held for the best scientific-research teams 2020.
