A regional training course on tritium analysis and applications in hydrogeological research is underway in Debrecen, Hungary, from June 29 to July 3, 2026, hosted by the HUN-REN Institute of Research, that is organized by the IAEA under project RER7017, “Ensuring Water Availability in a Changing Climate.
National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan is among the participating organizations. This course curriculum covers both theoretical and practical aspects of isotope hydrology, groundwater dating methods, and current approaches to tritium analysis.
Training also featured presentations of research findings on the isotopic composition of precipitation, surface water, and groundwater in Eastern Kazakhstan.
The acquired knowledge and abilities are anticipated to enhance isotope hydrology investigations, increasing the application of tritium as a tracer for examining hydrological systems and aquatic environments.
