The conference officially opened on October 7, 2025 on “Legacy and Prospects for the Development of Scientific and Technical Potential” in Kurchatov.
Participants were greeted by Almasadam Satkaliev, Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy; Abai Berik Uali, Governor of the Abai Region; Erlan Batyrbekov, Director General of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and Akylbek Kurishbaev, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Heads of the diplomatic corps of foreign embassies in Kazakhstan were also present.
The conference brought together over 200 participants this year, including scientists, experts, and specialists from Kazakhstan, Japan, the United States, France, Russia, China, Norway, Poland, Hungary, Belarus, the Netherlands, and other countries. Representatives of leading international organizations were present, including the China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE), the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), the ITER Organization (France), Rosatom State Corporation (Russia), and NORSAR (Norway).
During the plenary session, participants presented reports on current trends in nuclear energy development, nuclear and radiation safety issues, and international cooperation.
