NNC RK Continues Its Work as Part of the Kazakhstan Delegation at the IAEA General Conference

At a side event organized by the United States and Norway and dedicated to minimizing the use of highly enriched uranium fuel, a presentation was given on Kazakhstan's experience in converting research reactors to low-enriched fuel.

The event was opened by the Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy and Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration, Mrs. Jill Hruby. Top managers of the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, and Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. (AECL) also delivered presentations on this topic.

During the panel discussion, various aspects of conversion project implementation were discussed with the audience. The participants noted the unique experience of the Republic of Kazakhstan in conversion of different types of research reactors to low enriched fuel as well as in the disposal of highly enriched uranium.
