Recently, Kyrmyzy S. Minkenova, a Head of Cytogenetic research group, Department of radioecological and biodosimetry research at the Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology, National Nuclear Center RK has successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis on Cytogenetic effects in populations Koeleria gracilis Pers и Stipa capillata L., from the sites of Semipalatinsk polygon where combat radioactive substances were tested.
The Ph.D defense took place during the session of Dissertation Council at All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Radiology and Agroecology of the National Research Center Kurchatov Institute in Russia (Obninsk).

For reference. Kyrmyzy Serikovna Minkenova began her career in the Department of Radiobiological Research of Animals and Plants at the Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology in 2001, right after graduating from Semipalatinsk State University named after Shakarim in Specialty “Biology”. She has completed in-service Master’s degree in Biology at Pavlodar University and postgraduate studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Her main scientific works are devoted to study of cytogenetic effects of plant populations growing at Semipalatinsk Test Site.
