Advancement of Bilateral Relations: NNC RK and Japanese Atomic Energy Agency Meeting

17 September 2025

On September 16, a meeting with a delegation of the Japanese Atomic Energy Agency took place on the margins of the 69th IAEA General Conference.

The meeting covered several key issues, including the prospects for the development of nuclear reactors, the status of work on the technical feasibility studies for in-pile and out-of-pile testing of fuel for the advanced fast-neutron reactor, the plans and prospects for signing the next EAGLE-4 contract, and personnel training matters.

A cooperation between the National Nuclear Center of RK and Japanese Atomic Energy Agency has a longstanding history. Over this period, a range of joint projects has been successfully executed in the areas of reactor science, nuclear and radiological safety, and professional development. These efforts not only foster the advancement of cutting-edge scientific inquiry but also solidify the partnership between Kazakhstan and Japan in the direction of peaceful use of nuclear energy.

We are certain that further enhancement of cooperation would contribute to expand the possibilities of scientific research and would make a significant contribution to the global development of nuclear technologies.
