Teleconference Bridge with Nagasaki Dedicated to 15th Anniversary of STS Closure was held in Semipalatinsk

Today Teleconference Bridge with Nagasaki (Japan) dedicated to 15th anniversary of Semipalatinsk Test Site (STS) closure was held in Semipalatinsk reports Kazakhstan Today Agency.

"It is already the second Teleconference Bridge in history of friendship between Semipalatinsk and Nagasaki, the first was held in August 9, 2006," - reminded Banu Nurgaziyeva, Director of Department of Internal Policy of EKO.

Teleconference Bridge with participation of Nagasaki University representatives and public of Semipalatinsk was held in municipal Consultative Diagnostic Center. The communication of representatives of the two countries started from one minute's silence in remembrance of victims of STS consequences and bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Raphail Abuzyarov, Secretary of Municipal Maslikhat, made words of salutation to the Japanese side. "Never ending pain of Japanese people returned an echo to our hearts. More than 40 years the population of Semipalatinsk region also faced with nuclear test consequences but according to Decree of Head of Kazakhstan, 15 years ago nuclear monster had to be cancelled," - said R. Abuzyarov.

Online discussion continued during two hours. "15 years have passed, nevertheless, tragic consequences are still noticed. And nowadays people are still dying from serious diseases, and of course, only science and medicine can give the clear definition to what is going on with those who became a victim of the experiment," - said B. Nurgaziyeva. "Due to Teleconference Bridge the following relationships between Japan and Kazakhstan will be strengthened and in particular, between people of Nagasaki and Semipalatinsk cities. I strongly wish Semipalatinsk and Nagasaki to be twinned cities and we have interchange in all senses. All that will be positively influenced on people's life", - she concluded.
