Representatives of 24 countries including the US, Russia, China and others from Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) took part in cooperative meeting reported Kazinform Agency. They discussed issues of introduction of changes into the Red Book - (review Uranium Resources, Production and Needs) - published by IAEA. The Red Book is a main document of IAEA on prospects of uranium industry development covering the full range of issues on nuclear fuel cycle.
According to the statement of Robert Vans, Chairman of Cooperative Meeting, Kazakhstan occupies the second place in uranium ore reserves and the third place in volume of its exploitation. R. Vans noted that Kazakhstan has great development prospects in this sphere and the country may become a leader in uranium production.
This event is held for the second time in Kazakhstan. 10 years ago particularly the companies in trading of uranium production were introduced. Now at forthcoming event the wide variety of nuclear fuel cycle market participants will be presented: from representatives of extracting company to companies supplying the production to electricity-generating enterprises in Europe, Asia and USA.
