Issues on Atomic Energy Development are Discussed in the Government

In October 17, the meeting on issues of atomic energy development in the country and Nuclear Technology Park construction under the chairmanship of Danial Akhmetov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held in «Ukimet Uiy» (Government Hall), reported Kazinform with reference to Press Service of the Prime Minister.

The information on work plan implementation for atomic power development in Kazakhstan was represented to the Head of the Government. Predicted energy consumption level at districts, zones, metropolises and republic in general, the Program on staffing support are already worked out. Preliminary energy balance till 2030 is prepared. According to experts' opinion, it is necessary to carry out the modernization of research reactors for the National Nuclear Center, as well as the opening of new nuclear laboratories.

Moreover, the Premier mentioned the violation of period for performance a number of activities of premium significance. In particular, feasibility study on atomic power plant construction in the country is not worked out, financial means allocated to the Nuclear Technology Park construction, are not developed, and also there are a number of unrealized plan instances. All that gave caused to unfavorable criticism from the Head of the Government.

Having listened to reports, D.Akhmetov assigned to allocate funds to feasibility study of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) construction from Government reserve. The Head of the Government ordered to decrease financing of the Nuclear Technology Park developing due to non-use of monetary funds.

Furthermore, the Prime-Minister directed attention to issues of ecological safety concern, staffing support of NPP construction and its exploitation as well as personnel training for atomic energy.  He assigned to the Department of Education and Science to consider an issue on directing to foreign institutions at least 20 people by "Bolashak" program for specialization in the field of nuclear technology.
