Radiation Contamination Doses & Risk Workshop
Protection of human life and health, conservation and remediation of the environment favorable for people's life, labor and rest are defined as one of the basic directions in ensuring national security and specified in the current legislation, to include a National Security Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
All these underlay the workshop Radiation Contamination Doses & Risk held at the NNC Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology on July 18, 2003.
Professor Vladimir B. Georgievski Head of the Laboratory for Environmental Safety of the Moscow Kurchatov's Institute led the workshop.
The following issues were discussed:
- Dose load modeling.
- Environmental risk modeling.
- Analysis of the risk from combined chemical and radiation contamination.
- Problems of dose and risk retrospection.
Environmental and dose models for radiation accidents were presented at the workshop.
The workshop aroused interest of many leading specialists of the institute, young specialists and students.
It is impossible to revive the national economy without rehabilitation of the ecology and vice versa. Improvement of the environment is one of the most important aspects in economical reviving of Kazakhstan, and this very problem was heart of the seminar.
