Institute of Atomic EnergyEstablished in 1992, IAE was based on the Combined Expedition of Luch Scientific and Production Association of the RF Ministry for Atomic Energy. Primary Activity Areas - R&D activities to support the Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Development Program, feasibility studies for nuclear power plant construction in certain regions, thermonuclear and nuclear power safety, space power reactor facilities, solid-state radiation physics, and reactor material testing. Institute of Geophysical Research IGR was found in 1993 and comprised Borovoe Geophysical Observatory and Geophysical Party 35 of the RK Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources Conservation. In 1994, IGR was enlarged by Kaskelen Geophysical Observatory and seismic arrays in Makanchi, Aktyubinsk and Kurchatov. Institute of Radiation Safety and EcologyIRSE was established on the basis of research sub-units of Military Unit 52605 and NNC radioecological subdivisions in 1993. Primary Activity Areas - radioecology and radiation monitoring of national regions where nuclear tests have been conducted or nuclear facilities are available, decontamination of radioactively contaminated areas, and study of medical and biological aspects of radiation impact on the environment. Kazakh State Research & Production Center for Blasting OperationsWas established by RK Cabinet Resolution № 464 "On Kazakh State Research and Production Center of Explosive Operations" dated June 7, 1993. RK Governmental Resolution № 807 of 19.08.2002 incorporates KSCEO into RSE "National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan".
